Ensuring Chart’s Success…
To provide projects and tenders with electrical engineering design and drafting services to required technical and quality standards, within limited time schedule and budget.
Design of electrical, control and instrumentation solutions in accordance with client’s specifications, statutory requirements and Howden quality standards.
Support tendering of mine turnkey proposals by interpreting client’s specifications and assisting in scope definition and costing
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
Accountabilities
- Project
o Carry out assigned drafting and design work in compliance with Howden’s offered technical solution, appropriate standards and regulations, budget, schedule, scope and client’s specification.
o Liaise and co-ordinate, as appropriate, with other disciplines involved on the project (internal and external) to exchange related technical, budget and schedule details.
o Maintain quality levels throughout the work with particular reference to drawings and associated technical documentation.
o Maintain project files up-to date with relevant information.
- Design and engineering
o Carry out electrical system design and drafting and maintain control over the design solutions carried out by external service providers and suppliers.
o Develop of P&ID, electrical and instrumentation cable and instrument schedules, layout drawings, wiring schematics, instrument, equipment and IO lists, etc.
o Design and develop the EC&I system to provide appropriate interfaces with HV, LV, Controls and instrumentation equipment.
o Ensure EC&I system design takes into consideration all interfaces with other disciplines – mechanical, process and civil
o Ensure design solution compliance with project’s technical offer, client’s specification, relevant standards and regulations, budget and schedule.
o Ensure that scope changes are identified, submitted to client and approved.
o Produce and review ITPs, perform and witness equipment testing as required for internal quality control, FAT and SAT
o Perform commissioning tasks.
- Legal, Health and Safety
o Take all reasonable care for own personal health and safety, as well as for that of everyone who may be affected by your action in your workplace.
o Liaise and co-operate with company management with regards to the current health and safety legislation and obligations within the location and area where you perform your duties.
- General
o Help maintain library of technical knowledge.
o Be responsible for the organisation of supervised staff.

Your Education Should Be…
o Qualification in Electrical Engineering.
o Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards related to underground mines, NSW Coal Mines Health and Safety CMHS) Act, CMHS Regulations and Queensland Coal Mining Safety Turnkey project experience (preferable in mining)
o Working ability of General AutoCAD
o Design and/or maintenance experience with electrical installations in mining.
o Understanding HV and LV boards and working experience with regards to control and interface with control systems.
o Understanding HV and LV Variable Speed Drives and working experience with regards to control and interface with control systems
o Working experience on projects that utilise transportable switchrooms to house EC&I equipment
o Understanding of the requirements related to transportable switchroom design and the equipment installed inside.
o Knowledge of Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) systems.
o Solid experience in designing and drafting wiring diagrams of PLC based control panels
o Ensure EC&I system design takes into consideration all interfaces with other disciplines – mechanical, process and civil.
o Ensure design solution compliance with project’s technical offer, client’s specification, relevant standards and regulations, budget and schedule.
o Ability to define scope of electrical work/product.
o Ability to develop ITP and testing documentation.
o Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
o Willing to work on mine sites during commissioning up to 25% of the time in the year.
o Good communication and interpersonal skills

Your Professional Experience Should Be…
Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours
o PLC programming, SCADA mimic development
o Ability to use e-Plan and AutoCAD Electrical (smart features)
o Turnkey project experience
o Electrical design for Hazardous area, especially on Coal mines.
o Experience working with ventilation system equipment.
o Worked on Solidworks Electrical software.
o Experience in design and drafting of Low Voltage Switchboards single line diagrams and schematics.
Complexity and creativity
o Each project is unique & has different demands
o Limited time for design, implementation and completion
o Self-sufficient as EC&I engineer on a project.
o Contribute in all project phases through cooperation with experts in other disciplines and provide effective EC&I solutions.
o Design and project implementation based on efficiency and quality.
