The UK Sales Manager manages all client activity during the various business and project development phases of an inquiry from its initial conception to one that can be forecasted and eventually revenue recognized. The UK sale manager should be able to identify and drive suitable opportunities in which Howden Turbo-UK (Peter Brotherhood) can and will add value. The UK Sales Manager will influence the outcome and build credibility with clients that result in long term sustainable business for HTO-UK. Key attributes is that they are able to remain motivated and driven in order to deliver the strategic sales plan for their region. Key also is the ability to maintain and support all internal HTO-UK resources and teams toward successful order capture and delivery. The incumbent will manage the client interface, including securing a pricing premium, negotiating contractual terms, and assist operations in managing the client as required from cradle to grave.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Provide leadership and focus for achieving sales growth within the UK and European with assigned accounts and Manufacturer’s Representatives within the established governance framework

  • Proactively develop sales opportunities and regional marketing and sales plans

  • Initiates the order pursuit process and strategy development

  • Monitors and communicates market activity and trends, including with respect to competition and provides timely feedback to the PB Management team

  • Engages Legal/Contract Administration, Finance/Credit, Business Solutions, Controls Systems, Services and business unit managers, and company management as necessary

  • Works very closely with the Application Engineer to ensure the preparation of the technical and commercial proposal meet client datelines and other requirements and issues price recommendations based on market information for management approval

  • Prepares business activity and forecast reports and delivers technical and commercial presentations for management

  • Establishes and maintains preferred provider relationship with the key decision-makers and influencers within client organizations

  • Routinely presents to clients in both small and large forums, overviews of PB, the Company’s approach to market and its capabilities and product technology reviews/updates

  • Conducts business affairs with the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and safety

  • Works within the spirit of Company’s Code of Conduct and other policies

What Do You Need To Bring?

Skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and or some recognized Technical Training

  • Must have extensive experience in sales, business development or additional product lines (e.g., Centrifugal and Reciprocating Compressors, Steam and Gas Turbines, Expanders, Axial Compressors, Control systems for Turbomachinery and process technologies for the oil and gas or power generation industry) and Nuclear

  • UK Sales Experience within Energy from Waste, Biomass and Power Generation

  • Must be a self-starter with excellent customer service skills

  • Must be a driver for results with a proven track record of goal attainment

  • Confident and professional communication style, both written and oral

  • Must have excellent presentation skills which will be displayed to executive leadership and high level client contacts

  • Ability to build relationships and attention to detail are critical to succeeding in this role

  • Must possess interpersonal skills enabling productive relationships with peers, superiors and others where formal reporting relationships do not exist

  • Must have the ability to gain the confidence and trust of team members while conveying support and concern for others

  • Must possess excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work within a matrix-based organization

  • Excellent computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

  • Ability to travel UK and Europe on occasions

  • Expert experience and knowledge of sales management tools, practices and methodology

  • Excellent communicator with proven leadership skills and the ability to influence at all levels

  • Tenacious and demanding with the ability to hold key stakeholders & functions accountable

  • Excellent business & commercial acumen and customer negotiation skills

  • Experienced in interpreting & utilizing financial data to make decisions and deliver results
