Ensuring Chart’s Success…

This position’s focus is testing liquid hydrogen processing and handling equipment. The engineer will be responsible for collecting information and hardware from various Chart locations’ engineers and designers to create test plans, build the set-ups, integrate the test hardware, connect the data acquisition, run the tests, and process the data, and share the results. The ability to communicate effectively will be important to this role as is the aptitude to deal with ambiguity and make own decisions.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Set-up and run tests; make adjustments as needed to achieve accurate results.

  • Create reports and communicate results to Chart co-workers at various locations.

  • Coordinate activitiesof the testing with stakeholders and other test facility workers.

  • Use complex test sample equipment.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • 5 years of experience in the engineering, design, fabrication, testing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment used in the development of products.

  • Cryogenic pressure vessel or process industry is preferred.

  • Experience in liquid or gaseous hydrogen is preferred.

  • Experience with hands-on technical work which requires partnering with field operation and production staff.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Highly motivated self-starter and a team player.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Your Education Should Be…

  • BS Engineering degree, strongly prefer Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other Engineering disciplines also acceptable for a mechanically oriented person.

  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, PLC, SCADAand controls automation.

  • Experience with design of experiments and data acquisition.

  • Working knowledge of industrial codes and common engineering practices used within the oil and gas industry, such as ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII Division 1, NFPA 52/59A/55/2 is preferred

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

Working Conditions

  • Office environment.

  • Hydrogen Test Facility outdoor testing.

  • Engineering lab, indoor &outdoor testing.

  • Work related travel required (approximately 10%).

Work Hazards:

  • Lab test environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.

  • Compressed gases present in the lab and test areas.

  • Cryogenic nitrogen and hydrogen present in lab and test areas.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift to 40 lb.

  • Frequent standing, sitting, and walking.

  • Frequent computer work.

  • Frequent work at an outdoor liquid hydrogen test site
