What needs to be done?

At Howden´s we are currently seeking an experienced R&D Manager to join our team in Helsingør, Denmark. Your overall responsibilities are to lead R&D projects including financial governance and provide support to Sales, Service, Product Management and Manufacturing. This includes managing our local R&D department with 5 subordinates in close collaboration with the Global Product Group in Howden.

In your role as R&D Manager you will report to the Director of Environmental Compression in Howden Turbo, be part of the local management team and also technically report to the Howden Turbo R&D Leader based in Germany.

Key responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for functional safety of the product portfolio, both electrical & mechanical

  • Ensure a continuous, high level of development of the capabilities within the R&D organization, both within Electrical & Mechanical design

  • Ensure that deliverables are met in accordance with the product roadmap and continuously strive towards optimizing the product offering to reflect market demands

  • Provide technical clarification for customer projects in cooperation with Project Management/Sales Departments in Howden Turbo and towards customers.

In this role you can expect approx. 30 days of travel per year.

What do you need to bring?

  • A scientific degree, preferably M.Sc., within engineering, mechanical or electrical design or other relevant field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience from a similar position or related experience which qualifies for a management position.

  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience with industrial product development

  • Extensive experience in rotating equipment used in the field of Waste Water applications as well as Marine applications

  • Proficiency in English, verbal and in writing, is a must. Additional language skills are considered an advantage.

  • Excellent ability to communicate and present complex issues to internal & external stakeholders

  • Solid documentation, planning and time management skills

  • Strong capability to lead collaborative activities with internal and external partners in a global context
